Create Your Content

And make the details beautiful.

Once you’ve set up an issue, creating beautiful stories happens quickly and easily in the WebEdition platform. That means more time to sniff out the next great story.

Here’s how the story-building features work:

In-place editing

It’s a simple as it sounds: Just type or flow in some text. Then highlight the text you want to format and the styling menu will appear. Then bold, italics and link away!

Or click on the three dots to get more options: different header treatments, quote formatting, bulleted or numbered lists, or format clearing.

Story Information

This section (at the left of the footer) contains the nuts-and-bolts of a story: which department it falls under, at which URL it appears, how the summary reads and stuff like that.

Here’s where you’ll also change the status of a story to “Ready” (to flag it as complete) or “Published” (only available once its issue is first published).

Design Toolbox

Want to spruce up your stories with images, videos and pull quotes? Good! Just click on Design in the footer and tap the element you want to add. Then click on the marker next to the place you want to add your content.

For images and pull quotes, you’ll be given the option to add a caption, photographer name and attribution. (If you leave these fields blank, they’ll just disappear.)

See, we decided to add a caption here. (This house is actually our office, where WebEdition was made.)
“It’s true: Your pullquote could look like this.”

Editing History

WebEdition even lets you revert to older versions—woo! The History tool, also in the footer, creates a draft of a story every time it’s saved, noting who made the changes when. If you want to revert to an earlier version, just click to view that draft, then hit Save changes. Sweet relief.
